Which is really an allegory for my feelings on the show, because I watch it and I find myself totally caught up in it EVEN AS I am thinking these fuckwits are too stupid to rule Camelot.
There is this terrible knack possessed by the writers and production staff of Merlin that make it incredibly entertaining to watch even while the little rational voice in your head is telling you how truly terrible it is. I haven't experienced this level of cognitive dissonance about a show in ever, really. I mean I've watched dumb shows, and I've watched utterly compelling shows, but I've never watched a show that managed to be this level of both at once. It's frankly baffling to me.
But they look like they're having a good time, and god help me so am I, so I'm going to go with my initial reaction of FUCK YEAH DRAGONS and leave it at that."
