Girlpearl understands how the internets work...

Dear sir,

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with how the internets work.

Allow me to school you.

Step 1: Some douchehound has a bizarre, unfocused, slathering thought. It's terrifying, at first, because he's (I say he, dear sir, in this case not to exclude women, as some less rational minds might do, but because I am, in fact, talking about you. Asshat.) unfamiliar with the sensation, but eventually, the novelty wears off and he begins to feel that his thought is PROFOUND and NOVEL and MUST BE SHARED.

Step 2: He posts it to LiveJournal.

Step 3: Someone reads it and says, "Oh what the holy fuck is this?"

Step 3a:This person shares the link with their flist. These 15 to 2500 people go and read the post. Some percentage--a large percentage in this case--think, "Oh what the holy fuck is this?

Step 4: These people share the link with their flists. And their families. And their college lit professors. And otf_wank.

Step 5: The Internet arrives in your LJ to tell you "HEY YOU'RE A DOUCHEHOUND. FYI."

Step 6: Wank.

Helpfully,

Someone who doesn't even exist in your world--and is probably happier that way.

Context is mocking LJ wank in DW comments, the way it's supposed to be.

Heh. I know exactly what this is about, yes, it did pretty much happen that way (with one correction: I got links to the asshaberdashery in question from no less than four people in the same hour). And it always pretty much happens that way. The Internet can be a mighty tool for wielding the Voice of Reason.
