Terrifying, isn't it? More and more, the New York Times appears to be trapped in some sort of dimensional rift. On one side it's still a newspaper, with real reporters doing real investigative work and sometimes even being allowed to print the results; on the other it's all some kind of bizarro-world outlet for fanservice targeted to a demographic represented by David Brooks and Maureen Dowd.
Context doesn't feel powerful when ordering coffee.
