See, that's sacrilege for Methodists- Of course, coffee *is* their version of holy water. /rimshot

(and boy, do they get cranky when you detail clean the coffee pot on them...)

(obvious bias: I used to be a methodist before I reached the age of reason...)

or because traces of leftover washing up liquid make the coffee taste bad?

because apparently removing all the burnt-on coffee schmutz makes the first pot after it taste better then having coffee out of a pot that hasn't been detail cleaned since it was taken out of the box some ten-fifteen years ago. (Yeah, it was that bad- Apparently, no one else knew how to take the thing apart for detail cleaning, or could be arsed to actually do it.)


For reference, it was an older version of one of these types of coffee urns.
