I concur with the subject line.
Mar. 17th, 2010 04:29 pmSeen last night on our back window:
2-Inch Praying Mantis: I am a stick. Pay no mind to me. I am lurking death. I am nothing, nothing at all. Come closer. I am a killing machine honed by millennia of deadly struggle.
Extremely Small Moth: [ambles up the windowpane, bumps into 2IPM's stomach.]
2-Inch Praying Mantis: AH GOD MOTH MOTH MOOOOTH GETITAWAYFROMME! [falls off window in panic, flapping its wings frantically.]
Context sometimes entertains with Australian wildlife.
HA!

Date: 2010-03-18 12:58 pm (UTC)Since millions of years ago :-) There are some wingless mantises, but most species have them, even if they don't use them often.

Date: 2010-03-18 01:19 pm (UTC)Used to thinking of them on the ground. But once I saw it flying, it clicked. I did actually know that. Silly me.
Thanks. :)
